Week 5: Meatless Meals & Foreign Objects

Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016
Location:  H.P.F, Christopher (West Village)
Event: Juana de Arco in NYC
Food: Argentinian candies

Argentinian clothing and houseware brand Juana de Arco showcased its line at West Village jewelry store H.P.F, Christopher. I was not timely enough to score a pastry, but I made due with some Argentinian candies and mate. The store was entirely too crowded so I graciously exited after feigning interest in their incredibly petite bras.

Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016
Location: VSPOT Organic (East Village)
Event: The Vegan Roadie Cook In
Food: Veggie burger, potato salad, and cole slaw

From what I gathered, this event was part of a Kickstarter campaign for a vegan television show. More notably, this was by far the closest thing to a legitimate free meal I've gotten. There was a main course and two sides and none of it included pizza or popcorn. As a frequent taunter of people who don't eat meat, I was surprised at how much I liked this food. I think I said out loud a few times how edible I thought it all was.

Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016
Location: The HiFi Bar (East Village)
Event: Summer Camp Comedy Show
Food: Pizza from 2 Bros.

This was a night of amateur comedy which was not as horrible as it might sound. Six comedians each performed a short set in the back room of The HiFi Bar. My personal favorite was Marie Faustin who had a charming anecdote about getting her hair stuck in the doors of the 6 train. I'll have to do a bit of re-arranging to incorporate this into my list of top fears.
