Week 21: Drones & A Chicken Truce

Tuesday, June 7, 2016
Location: AbelCine (Tribeca)
Event: Drones in Film Production
Food: Pickles, olives, edamame, chips & guacamole

After finally getting over a traumatic incident involving my hair and a drone, I've decided to stop fighting their inevitable takeover. AbelCine hosted an event for industry professionals (and me) to learn about using drones in film. I found out they're a lot cheaper than using helicopters and we better have a lot of fun with them before they start being regulated.

Location: Chick-fil-A (Midtown)
Event: Launch of Chick-fil-A One App
Food: Spicy chicken sandwich

Chick-fil-A is as delicious as it is morally questionable. To coincide with the release of their new app they gave out free chicken sandwiches to all. After hitting up the NYU location which ended up being closed for summer, I finally made it to scenic midtown to claim my free food. While Shake Shack and Fuku are making a name for themselves in the chicken sandwich world, there's a certain charm to the simplicity of Chick-fil-A's version. Plus they have waffle fries.

Location: STORY (Chelsea)
Event: Disrupt Thursdays: Hacking Happy Hour
Food: Popcorn

STORY is a pretty cool store which changes themes and merchandise every couple months. This time they were launching their store based on the TV show Mr. Robot and some other hacker things. They had a sweet vending machine that serves you if you tweet, which I would've participated in if I didn't think Twitter was the scum of the earth. They also had free Nathan's hot dogs (with purchase) and actually free popcorn for the rest of us peasants.
