Week 15: Required RSVP & Real Life Linen

Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2016
Location:  Black Door Gallery (Chelsea)
Event: Happy Hour Art Show Number Five
Food: Fancy Chex Mix

Black Door Gallery hosted apparently the fifth in a series of happy hours showcasing their artists. People were drinking and mingling among the not yet priceless works of art. They had some basic bar snacks like peanuts and something resembling a slightly fancier version of Chex Mix. I don't think I've quite hit my art collecting years so I walked away empty handed.

Wednesday, Apr. 27, 2016
Location:  Villain (Williamsburg)
Event: Just A Little Thick Pop Up Event
Food: Fried chicken wing

Unlike every other event I've gone to, this one had some level of exclusivity because my friends were denied at the door. The bouncers were serious about those RSVPs so I had to venture in alone. It was a hip warehouse space in Williamsburg that's probably seen its fair share of yodeling competitions, or whatever people do in Brooklyn. I was told I could only have one chicken wing which seemed a bit stingy, but beggars can't be choosers.

Saturday, Apr. 30, 2016
Location:  Cynthia Rowley HQ (West Village)
Event: Everlane Open Studio: Linens
Food: Oysters

Everlane hosted an event to bring their normally online-only clothes to us in real life. This time around they were focused on linens, which I always imagine will look badass on me but end up a wrinkled mess. They're just not a working man's fabric. Luckily they were also serving oysters and champagne which I happily enjoyed in my regular polyblend clothes.
